Posted by Lianka on

This free crochet pattern for a slouch has all to do with my love for textured stitches! I wanted to share with you this easy and quick hat that you can make in a just a few hours.  It is ideal for last-minute gifts, and for those of you who sell finished pieces, where time is of the essence. I would love to hear what you think about this one. Please  leave your comments!

Finished Size:   Fits a 20 – 22” head circumference

Abbreviations:
Back loops only (BLO)

Beginning (beg)
Chain (ch)
Front Loops Only (FLO)
Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc)

Single Crochet (sc)
Stitch (st)

Special Stitch Used:

Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc) – Yo and insert hook from the front to the back around the post of the dc of previous row. Complete as for a regular dc stitch.

Pattern Notes:

  • Slouch is worked in continuous rounds, without joining. This will give a polished look without an unnecessary seam. Use stitch marker to keep track of your rounds if needed.
  • The use of a much larger hook than what is normally suggested for a worsted weight yarn is intentional to produce drape on the slouch.
  • The stitch pattern used makes the hat reversible where one side you have a ribbed look and the other you have a textured spiral look.

Directions for Slouch:

With Size L (8.00 mm) hook Using a magic ring to work in the round OR ch 4; join with sl st to form a ring:

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (does not count as a dc), 10 dc in ring, do not join here and throughout. Keep track of your rounds by using a stitch marker on first st of each round. – (10 dc)
